Content Marketing – Is There Anything New?

I am sure that there are hundreds of good descriptions about what is content marketing, but I want to explain how I perceive it.


My definition of the content marketing:

1. It is inbound marketing – meaning that it is not bought advertising space

2. It is based on a well defined target group and highly relevant content to the consumer

3. It has a clear objective towards the target audience

4. It should always trigger a viral effect

This definition does apply to many of the marketing activities over the past decade. However, today’s difference is that customer segments are much smaller in size than they used to be. The segmentation is more refined and the messages towards the target groups are also more polished.
